All about Weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf

Oh how I love photographing weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf! It is one of London's most unique and striking dry hire wedding venues. Located on the banks of the river thames in the heart of London's docklands, Trinity Buoy Wharf was originally a buoy manufacturing site. Now used as a centre for the arts and a creative cultural hub as well as a wedding and events space, it has an exciting, modern, buzzy atmosphere. Heritage buildings sit alongside a colourful container city, boats, a retro 50's style American diner, multiple art installations and even London's only lighthouse! And of course its incredible riverside location and spectacular views across the thames make Trinity Buoy Wharf a breathtaking location for your wedding photography! If you are planning a London wedding you will be hard pressed to find a more unique and dazzling industrial venue.

Ceremony Venues

There are two contrasting ceremony spaces at Trinity Buoy Wharf, which can accommodate weddings of various sizes and offer totally different experiences. Both spaces share the amazing views and can access the lighthouse for sun set photos, as well as the rest of the eclectic architectural surroundings for your Trinity Buoy Wharf Wedding photography.

The Chainstore

The Chain store is a Grade II listed brick building with triple height ceilings. It is a huge, light, industrial building with enormous doors that open out onto the riverside terrace that your guests can spill outside onto on summer wedding days. This also provides a great background for your confetti throw photos! The terrace also has direct access to the Trinity Buoy Wharf Jubilee Pier, which provides a unique opportunity for guests to arrive by boat. As you can imagine, this looks amazing in wedding pictures, whether your trinity buoy wharf wedding photographer travels with you or photographs your entrance from the venue.

The Chain store is licensed for wedding ceremonies and if you choose to get married there, the room is usually partitioned so the events team can start getting your tables ready for dinner on one side and then completely turn the room around durning your drinks reception. The section of the room designated to your ceremony will often transform into your dance floor later in the night when it is time to party!

The Chain store is a blank canvas that you can style in any way you wish and lends itself perfectly to everything from elegant and chic weddings, to fun and colourful styling, neon industrial and everything else you can possibly imagine in between!

The Electrician's Shop

The Electrician's Shop is magical venue perfect for an intimate winter wedding. It is an atmospheric, industrial, basement venue featuring exposed brickwork and entirely lit by twinkly fairy lights. I highly recommend that you book an experienced photographer for your trinity buoy wharf wedding photography if you choose to hold your ceremony in The Electrician's Shop as it is incredibly dark, but this can make for some dreamy, theatrical photographs and I love shooting there!

Many couples go on to have their drinks reception and party at The Chainstore after having their ceremony at The Electricians shop and a benefit of this is that the room can be already set up for you and ready to go.

Your Trinity buoy wharf wedding photography

I have been a London wedding photographer for nearly 10 years now and I always feel so lucky every time I book another wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf! I find the possibilities for creative pictures are endless. With so many opportunities for great photos I am always inspired and excited and never feel like I am repeating myself.

Wedding photography at Trinity Buoy Wharf looks good whatever the weather. If the weather is good your guests can enjoy the day outside overlooking the river and the O2 and if not there is plenty of room inside the venue for drinking, eating and dancing, which also looks really cool in the candid documentary style photos I will take to tell the story of your day.

There are some really fun, colourful spots (not too far from the bar ;)) for relaxed group photos with your family, friends and bridesmaids and groomsmen (if you are having them).

I like to take a few minutes at a couple of different points in the day for couple portraits and this is especially perfect for a Trinity Buoy Wharf wedding as we can make the most of the amazing venue, get creative and create shots in different locations and different light. I'm thinking strolling through the container city during your drinks reception for some urban cool, then sneaking off to the lighthouse at golden hour to make beautiful portraits as the sun is going down over the river and the city beyond.

A Blank Canvas

Trinity Buoy Wharf is a dry hire venue, which means that you can have complete control over every aspect of your day, from decor to catering to entertainment. This gives you amazing freedom to curate exactly the kind of day you are dreaming of, but it is an awful lot of work and can be quite overwhelming when it is not your full time job - especially when you can often only get into the venue to set up on the day as Trinity Buoy Wharf is a popular London wedding venue that holds multiple weddings each weekend. So, it is a really great idea to use a wedding planner, an on the day coordinator, or even better employ the services of Urban Space Events who run the venue. They specialise in urban and 'untraditional' weddings and can help you pull together all the different aspects of your day whether you are after street food vans or a formal four course meal, mini golf or a boat ride, a live band, lighting or a DJ. They offer a number of options including full wedding planning, a 6 week planning service or a one off consultation at the start of your process, so there will be something to suit every budget. They can also help you with all the boring, unglamorous logistical things like pulling together lighting, foliage, bars and drapes so you can concentrate on the fun stuff! Every option comes with an on the day coordinator, which trust me, is invaluable - especially at a big London wedding venue like Trinity buoy wharf - plus they are all super nice! So I highly recommend you check them out!!

Whether or not you decide to travel by boat, it's a good idea to plan how you and your guests are going to get to Trinity Buoy Wharf:

Boat: The venue's designated boat service that runs from the North Greenwich Pier to Trinity Buoy Wharf Pier is currently out of service until further notice. However there are numerous private hire companies that you could book, or alternatively the Thames Clipper will get you there.

Tube/DLR: The nearest tube station is Canning Town on the Jubilee Line, which is a 10 min walk away. The closest DLR station is east India, which is also a 10 min walk away. The area is well served by taxis, but it would be a good idea to pre book with a local taxi service - especially for your journey home!

Bus: Number 277, alighting at the Town Hall on the north side of East India (DLR) station. Or the D3 from Canary Wharf has a stop in Orchard Place.

Car: There is no public parking on site. But if someone is going to drop you or your guests off, tell them to follow signs to Leamouth on the A13 or from Aspen Way. At the Leamouth roundabout, take the Lower Lea Crossing exit. Almost immediately, go left after the bridge. At the T-junction turn right onto Orchard Place and follow the road round to Trinity Buoy Wharf.

It is possible to reserve parking for your wedding suppliers, so please do chat to the events team and book a parking spot for your wedding photographer as they are definitely going to need one!
